Overview
IT security must be combined with interoperability and efficiency requirements. In networked society, public administrations need to be both open and secure. An integrated security infrastructure must provide information protection at the network and platform level, have the capability to monitor, analyze, and respond to threats and incidents in real-time, and be designed to manage identities and privileges, access, and authorization.
In this study Government Insights provides an analysis of the results of the IDC Vertical Market Survey carried out in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the U.K. The results are based on 279 interviews in the government sector. This study, which analyzes IT security adoption and investment plans, is the second of a series of studies that include analysis of IT strategy and decision making process, analysis of adoption of new technologies, and analysis of IS budget plans
Vendors that want to win business in the government IT security space, must target local authorities and offer identity management solutions, according to Massimiliano Claps and Silvia Piai, IDC European Vertical Markets.
