The Summit will explore the policy implications of five groundbreaking new pieces of research - four from NESTA’s ‘Innovation & Place’ strand of research and one produced for DIUS by a team from the Cambridge-MIT Institute.
AnnaLee Saxenian, author of ‘Regional Competitive Advantage’ and ‘The New Argonauts’ will join us from the University of California at Berkeley to chair a panel of senior policymakers from all of the Nations of the UK, and to make one of two keynote addresses. The other keynote will be delivered by Sir Richard Leese, leader of Manchester City Council, who will talk about his experiences in developing Manchester’s innovation agenda.
Stephen Timms MP, Minister for Competitiveness at the Dept. for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform will open the day with his observations on the importance of innovation to the nations and regions of the UK.
